      Okay, so this is going to need an explanation. FF7, compilation material, or any accompanying media doesn't explicitly say what exactly Nanaki is. Think cat hardware running on dog software and you're warm. Here's further info, if you'd like it.

      Disposition:

      ☾ COURAGEOUS; as a warrior of Cosmo Canyon (and presumably, the very last) Nanaki places great emphasis on physical and mental fortitude. He takes his birthright, the task of defending Cosmo Canyon (and later the planet), extremely seriously- even going as far as to leave Cosmo Canyon in order to travel with Cloud and company as their goals are similar to his own. Prior to FF7, Nanaki's courage is shown when he offers himself to the Turks in place of Deneh, another member of his tribe- something that didn't work out well for him. Regardless, he throws himself into any encounter that dictates he must without any hesitation, and relies on his wits as well as tooth and claw to overcome the odds.

      ☾ PRIDEFUL; Nanaki's pride is best displayed in reference to his father, Seto. Convinced that when another tribe known as the Gi attacked Cosmo Canyon, Seto abandoned his mother and his people in order to save his own skin, Nanaki is scornful when he speaks of his father up until the moment he learns that wasn't the case at all, and upon seeing Seto's petrified body high above the canyon, still defending it, Nanaki is filled with both adoration for his father, and a new pride in being the descendant of the "Great warrior Seto." He promises Seto's body that he will become a warrior fit to follow in his name, and holds himself firmly to that ideal.

      ☾ INTELLIGENT; Nanaki's intellect is said via official sources to be greater than that of any human, and he knows a great deal about his home planet and Planetology due to being raised within Cosmo Canyon. While Nanaki does initially show a distaste toward humans, he's nonetheless curious about a lot of human things, showing himself to be keenly observant at a good number of points throughout the game. Interestingly, the Novella 'On the way to a Smile' expands on Nanaki's intelligence a little more- indicating that both his intelligence, sentience and conscience means he can't live as an animal, although his appearance makes him seem like one to humans.

      ☾ IMMATURE; Nanaki, at his heart, is a teenager. Although he has courage, pride, and an uncommon intellect, and while he presents himself as a stoic and prideful warrior, he can't help but behave as any young person would when confronted with adversity. He has a number of worries, including, when he learns the extent of the Jenova project, an uncontrollable fear that as one of Hojo's numbered test subjects he will go mad as well- and has to be snapped out of it by Tifa. At one point of the game, Nanaki confesses that he hates it when people treat him as a child, but admits, in the same sentence, he also kind of liked the attention it afforded him and liked to feel cared for. Nanaki's underlying immaturity shows itself in other ways, too. In Costa del Sol, he finds himself, oddly enough, entranced by a game of football some children are playing in the street. And despite being Nanaki Of Cosmo Canyon, The Son Of The Great Warrior Seto, if you boot the ball his way? He'll play with the kids. Because it's fun. Just don't tell anyone, ok.

      ☾ ACTUALLY QUITE A SWEETHEART; Nanaki enters the party cold, distant, and explicitly states that he'll go as far with the party till Cosmo Canyon. After that, he's leaving. Remake expands his initial tendency to make a number of snide remarks as well, thanks to the infamous '300 pound sack of shit' line he sticks Barret with. However, as the group travel together and face adversity together, Nanaki begins to change. As the game progresses, he shows himself to be very sweet-natured and strikes up multiple unique relationships with members of the party, seeing each as very important to him in differing ways- from his older brother sentiment toward Cloud, to his banter with Barret, to his kinship with Vincent, everyone means something unique.

      Suitability: I feel Nanaki will stick to AVALANCHE-based cast for the first couple of weeks due to his prideful nature and distrust of outsiders, but will eventually shed his shell and establish meaningful CR in other places, as well. In regard to peril/danger/battle prompts, it takes an awful lot to squick him, and he'll more than likely volunteer to defend Noctium against threats alongside other characters.

      Because he's mentally 16 (and he's stated in canon that he doesn't like two-legged things), he's not going to be participating in anything lewd. That's a hard no from me and him tbh. However, for manna accruement, he has a number of people he feels comfortable enough platonically generating it within cast right now, and has the capacity to forge similar bonds with cross canon for the same later.

      Condition upon arrival: Fine.

      Abilities: WARRIOR: Nanaki is an accomplished warrior, and can fight without the need for a weapon, as teeth and claws are all that he needs. He's very speedy- boasting the highest speed stat in the game (He beats out a ninja!) and should generally be considered pretty difficult to get the upper hand on. Not impossible! Just difficult.

      ANIMAL TRAITS: Nanaki's species is generally considered more in-tune with nature than humans, and it's not a stretch to imagine he shares traits with animals. (Eg: a very basic feeling of danger approaching, heightened hearing, and heightened smell.)

      MATERIA: If it's all right, I'd like to include some materia for Nanaki's use! He'll come in with a Restore materia, granting him the spells Cure 1, 2 and Regen. He'll also have the Sense Materia, allowing him to analyze an opponent's basic toughness and weaknesses. Finally, I'll have him with a Fire materia, allowing fire-related spells up to level 3.

      LIMIT BREAK: Hokay well FF7 has a bit of a Thing where everyone has innate superpower desperation moves that only occur when they've taken a beating. I'll be using the following for Nanaki:

      ☾ Sled Fang: A rush toward a single enemy.
      ☾ Lunatic High: A howl that raises all allies speed, and raises Nanaki's defence by 50% for every ally boosted.

      ☾ Blood Fang: A running jump toward a single enemy, which heals some of Nanaki's health, and steals some manna from the target.
      ☾ Stardust Ray: a howl that deals random damage to all enemies in proximity.

      ☾ Howling Moon: Boosts Nanaki's damage dealt by 60%, but has the caveat of making him go entirely feral, unable to do anything but attack.
      ☾ Earth Rave: Deals random damage to any enemy in proximity for a total of 5 hits.


      Inventory: One Seraph comb headdress ornament, and due to the canon point I'm taking him from, one Black Materia.

      Note: The black materia is literally world-ending, and entrusted to Nanaki at this canon point for safekeeping. However, the Black Materia requires an insane amount of spiritual power to use. Nanaki can't use it, Nanaki will never be able to use it, (Nanaki would never want to!) and even characters in FF7 cast that use it at Nanaki's canon point, such as Sephiroth, absolutely don't have the power needed to use it at their canon point. I'll understand if you want to take it away anyway, but it's a very harmless paperweight.
